Shirley May is a writer and author of Conversations with Teddy, her childhood journey of survival with her Teddy Bear, the keeper of secrets. Shirley is a teacher who cares very deeply for teenage issues of cyberbullying, eating disorders, self mutilation and family turmoil. Her current research encompasses these issues and form the background to the series of teenage realistic fiction, Talk to Me.  Shirley May’s personal experience of family turmoil continues in Whisperings Without Within and Finding my Voice the sequels to her life story.


Shirley May was born in Melbourne, Australia and now resides in Port Macquarie, NSW. Parts of her childhood were spent in Victoria and South Australia as her parents moved from church to church as ministers in The Salvation Army. From an early age Shirley has always had a passion for both literature and music. Shirley May’s interests include writing, poetry, reading, social concerns, music, composing, surfing and fishing.
